Indiana Memorial Union (IMU)

The Indiana Memorial Union operates as a hotel, a conference center and a student union. Conference sessions, most food and social activities will take place in the IMU.

Contact the hotel directly. Inform the registration staff person that you are attending the Learning Sciences Conference. Unless you identify yourself as a conference participant, you may be unable to obtain a room.

We encourage you to make your reservations early. The Learning Sciences block of hotel rooms will be released to the general public on June 13, 2006.

Hotel room rates are based on:

  • Type of room (single or double)
  • Weekday (Sun - Thurs) or weekend (Fri & Sat) check-in

The following are current representative room charges:

  • Single, weekday room w/one double bed- $83.00
  • Single, weekday room w/ one king size bed - 113.00
  • Double, weekday room w/two double beds - 103.00
  • Double, weekday room w/two queen beds - 113.00
  • Suite,weekday w/two double beds, parlor & bath - 163.00

All rooms are subject to 11% tax.

Room rate increases typically are enacted April 1st of each year.

Internet Access
Hardwire and wireless internet access is available throughout the IMU.

For those seeking economical single room housing, a block of air-conditioned rooms is available for ICLS participants at Willkie Residential Center.

Willkie Residential Center is located on the east side of campus (see campus map at: www.iub.edu/~iubmap). The Center is a 10-15 walk from the Indiana Memorial Union, where most conference activities will take place.

Willkie Center features "suite style" housing. All rooms are singles and share an adjoining bath with one other single room. All rooms are air-conditioned, have wall-to-wall carpeting, a bed, dresser and desk with overhead and desk lighting.

Linens including 2 sheets, lightweight coverlet, pillow, pillow case and small towel are provided. We recommend that you bring your own bath towel. It is your responsibility to provide your own toiletries.

You may select your suite mate or we will assign you a same gender suite mate (see on-line registration form)

ADA accommodations are available. Any special needs/accommodations must be indicated on your housing registration form (see on-line registration form).

All rooms have internet access.

The cost for housing at Willkie Residential Center is: $39.00/room/night + 11% tax.

All Willkie housing reservations must be received by June 15, 2006. It will not be possible to reserve a dormitory room when you arrive on campus.

Cancellation of Reservations
Cancellation of reservations will be honored if submitted in writing before June 15th. Email your request

You will be responsible for payment of housing charges, if you cancel reservations after June 15th or on-site. We request your understanding that Willkie is a residential housing center and does not offer the features and flexibility of hotel or motel accommodations.
